Robbie Basho (1940-1986) è universalmente considerato uno dei padri dell’American Primitive guitar e fonte d’ispirazione per moltissimi chitarristi venuti dopo di lui.
Durante il lavoro di realizzazione del documentario “Voice of the Eagle: The Enigma of Robbie Basho”, il regista Liam Barker era entrato in contatto con una quantità enorme di nastri registrati da Basho durante la sua carriera e mai pubblicati prima.
Vedranno la luce il 4 dicembre in Song Of The Avatars: The Lost Master Tapes, cofanetto in 5CD pubblicato con il beneplacito di Basho’s Estate da Tompkin’s Square. Il boxset, contenente ben 54 tracce, è ulteriormente arricchito da un booklet con foto mai viste e note a opera dello stesso Barker, di Henry Kaiser, Steffen Basho-Junghans, Glenn Jones e Richard Osborn e di un poster.
Tompkin’s Square pubblicherà anche un LP con una selezione delle tracce contenute nel cofanetto, intitolato Selections From Song Of The Avatars: The Lost Master Tapes.
