Il nuovo disco degli Algiers esce il 24 febbraio

Uscirà il 24 febbraio su Matador il nuovo disco degli Algiers, intitolato Shook.

Disco fortemente collaborativo, Shook vanta la presenza di molti ospiti: Zack de la Rocha dei Rage Against The Machine, Big Rube (The Dungeon Family), Billy Woods, Samuel T. Herring (Future Islands), Jae Matthews (Boy Harsher), Samuel T. Herring (Future Islands), Jae Matthews (Boy Harsher), LaToya Kent (Mourning [A] BLKstar), Backxwash, Nadah El Shazly, DeForrest Brown Jr. (Speaker Music), Patrick Shiroishi, Lee Bains III e Mark Cisneros (The Make-Up, Kid Congo Powers).

Disco dedicato ad Atlanta, la loro città, l’album segna un riavvicinamento tra i membri della band, la quale era quasi sul punto di sciogliersi. Invece hanno prodotto un disco straordinario e trasformativo, nato dalla condivisione di un esperienza e di un luogo. “Credo che questo disco rappresenti il nostro ritorno a casa” affermai bassista Ryan Mahan, mentre il cantante Franklin James Fisher aggiunge: “È stata un’esperienza positiva del tutto nuova: avere un rapporto rinnovato con la città da cui proveniamo ed esserne orgogliosi. Mi piace l’idea che questo disco vi porti in un viaggio che inizia e finisce ad Atlanta“.

Gli Algiers si esibiranno in uno speciale evento SHOOK, con la partecipazione di vari ospiti, al National Sawdust di New York il 12 dicembre e saranno in tour in Europa nel 2023, compreso uno spettacolo a Londra l’8 marzo al Dome e due date in Italia a febbraio, a Ravenna e Pordenone. La band è inoltre confermata per l’edizione 2023 del festival SXSW di Austin, Texas.
